Meanwhile, the National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and low humidity, from 1 p.m. Monday to 11 a.m. Tuesday for much of the Carson City region.

After a night washed out with a deep sepia haze resulting from the Creek Fire burning in the southern Sierra, the dense smoke that made its way into northern and western Nevada Saturday night that caused degraded air quality throughout the region now appears to be lifting, according to the National Weather Service.

The Slink Fire burning south of Topaz Lake and two miles west of Coleville, Calif., reached 14,200 acres early Thursday and was 10 percent contained, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

A 32-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of third degree arson after allegedly setting fires in a field near the I-580 off ramp and William Street.

The COVID-19 Mitigation and Management Task Force met Thursday with seven counties flagged last week for having an elevated risk of transmission of the coronavirus. Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded Wednesday afternoon to a vehicle crash into an apartment complex building that has resulted in a gas leak.

While all three metro areas in Nevada continued to see job gains in July, Carson City was among the best, having an increase of 800 jobs, or 2.8 percent growth since June, with the manufacturing sector climbing the most by 100 jobs or 3.8 percent, according to figures released Wednesday by the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Wednesday for suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation and drug possession with intent to sell among other alleged offenses.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Dense Smoke Advisory for the greater Reno, Carson City and Carson Valley areas including Sparks, Verdi, Gardnerville and Virginia City. The advisory is in effect until 11 a.m. Thursday. Visibility is below 3 miles with unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups. The advisory says to expect periods of dense smoke and unhealthy air quality through Thursday morning. Winds may help improve air quality into Wednesday night before smoke returns to the area by early Thursday morning.
