On Monday evening Mars was once again behind the moon. In the southern US Mars was occulted by the moon while here in Carson City, Mars could be seen to skin by just above.

Last night was the full moon of December and one of its names is "The Cold Moon." Last night Mars was in opposition and earlier in the evening the moon eclipsed Mars for a period of time. The photos of the moon and Mars were taken after it reappeared in the sky.

She works on the Cassini mission to Saturn with the Ultraviolet Imaging Spectrograph (UVIS) investigation team, responsible for planning and analyzing icy satellite data. She led the science team for Jet Propulsion Laboratory-Titan Orbiter.
