Carson City Supervisors consider adding four-wheelers to municipal code
The Carson City Board of Supervisors met last Thursday to consider an amendment to section 10.30 of the Carson City Municipal Code dealing with off-road vehicles in proximity to houses.
A proposed bill would add a new chapter, 10.31, to the code. The addition would address four-wheeled all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) within the law, which prohibits off-road vehicles that are not street legal from operating on public roads and within 500 feet of another residence.
Current law — chapter 10.30 of the CCMC — only covers two and three-wheel off-road vehicles, according to the staff report filed by the Carson City Community Development Department, and has not been amended since 1978 before four-wheeled ATVs came into use.
This proposed amendment has been made in relation to noise and other disturbances caused by ATVs in proximity to residential areas.
