Man arrested on misdemeanor charges after eluding officer in pursuit
A Carson City man was jailed Monday on four misdemeanor charges including eluding an officer after he was clocked on radar going more than 70 mph in a 45 mph zone and driving through a stop light, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a motorcycle patrol officer doing traffic enforcement in the 5000 block of Carson Street recorded the 34-year-old driver going 73 mph. The officer pulled behind the truck and activated his motorcycle lights and siren.
The driver instead accelerated and drove through a red light at the intersection of Medical Parkway and North Carson Street. The vehicle accelerated again and turned onto Silver Oak Drive, the arrest report states.
The officer continued pursuit, with the driver pulling into an apartment complex, exiting the vehicle and running through the complex, the arrest report states. Several witnesses advised seeing the man attempting to hide.
Due to the man’s hasty retreat from his vehicle in his attempt to escape, he left his girlfriend in the truck. Officers asked the woman to call the man on his cell phone, urging him to return to the truck.
Moments later, the man returned and was taken into custody. The man told officers he didn’t have a driver’s license, which is why he fled from the police. He was taken to jail where he was booked on misdemeanor attempting to elude, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and running a red light. Bail: $1,998.
