Carson Public School Drug Policies Behind the Times
Today I attended a Chamber luncheon focused on [our] children's use of drugs and alcohol, and the ENDLESS ways the signs of/actual drugs are hidden. I was blown away with the amount of information given in such a short time, but the most disturbing moment was announced with applause.
Carson City is proud to randomly drug test their athletes.
Wow. Your athletes. Good for you. Finally.
I am 31, and grew up in a very small southern town. As a junior in HIGH SCHOOL, 1997(!), every student in ANY EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY was randomly drug tested on a weekly basis. Whether you were a center for the football team, a Mathlete, a debate team member, a cheerleader, a band member, a choir singer, the manager of the soccer team, or an art student; you were up to be tested any/every week.
Please, Carson City. Please. Catch up.
What is needed? It can easily be funded. No excuses.
