Muscle Powered is beginning to recruit new board members to serve on the board for a volunteer 2-year term of service. We meet 6 times a year for 2 hours with occasional meetings on weekends for planning meetings. To join the board, you must be a current Muscle Powered member.

The Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team including South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue, North Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Douglas fire protection districts, Nevada Division of Forestry and the USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit will continue prescribed burning this week at Lake Tahoe, conditions and weather permitting.

Hello fellow anglers. A very Merry Fishmas and Happy Holidays to all. The weather is changing and keeping a few anglers inside. But if you read this report, you might get your gear out and head out between our weather makers.

Before I get to your report, I would like to thank a few anglers that weighed in on my last report, mainly in regards to the California Boaters card.

I met a magical horse recently. She loved having her picture taken, if that is not enough, she posed. After about 15 minutes of photographing her I finally went to my car. I took one last look at her before I left and she was happily galloping up the hill that was behind her. I couldn't write a more perfect story!

Thanks to Mother Nature and a strong push from its dedicated snowmaking team, Kirkwood Mountain Resort is scheduled to open this Friday, Dec., 1 for the 2023/24 ski and snowboarding season.

Hello fellow anglers. I hope you are enjoying time with friends and family over this Thanksgiving weekend. The seasons are changing and so are some fishing regulations in California.

After a slight delay due to warm weather that was followed up over the weekend with light snow showers and much cooler conditions, Heavenly Mountain Resort at Lake Tahoe announced it will be open for skiing Tuesday, Nov. 21, with Northstar California to follow Thanksgiving day. Kirkwood Mountain Resort is scheduled for Dec. 1, conditions permitting.

On Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, approximately 100 shooters entered our annual Turkey Shoot contests and more than 14 went home with a frozen turkey for their holidays.

The Carson Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is opening a public fuelwood area near Markleeville, Calif., in Alpine County. Cut logs are decked at various locations within the Tamarack Restoration Project area, primarily in the Pleasant Valley Road and Thornburg Canyon.

The University of Nevada, Reno extension office will be hosting a workshop about regenerative agriculture and gardening Thursday, Nov. 30 in Gardnerville.

The workshop will cover the basics of soil health, building organic carbon, utilizing cover crops, and much more.

The Nevada Division of Forestry is pleased to announce the availability of approximately $2.2 million in funding from two competitive grant programs to assist communities with the implementation of projects that support urban and community forestry goals.

With recent warm temperatures in the Lake Tahoe region, Vail Resorts announced Wednesday they have delayed their targeted opening days at both Heavenly Mountain Resort and Northstar California Resort.

Douglas County, in partnership with The Nature Conservancy and the Army Corps of Engineers recently designed and installed a new high water mark sign at the River Fork Ranch in Genoa.

On Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, Capitol City Gun Club in Carson City will host its annual Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot at its Trap fields beginning at 9 a.m. Entry is $5 per ticket, with a limit of two turkeys per shooter. The Club is located at 3590 Arrowhead Drive.

On Saturday, Nov. 11 Capitol City Gun Club in Carson City will host a Veterans Day Weekend Fun Shoot from 9:00am to 4:30pm. Target fees will be discounted all day. Hello fellow anglers. Here we are back at the time of year when we set our clocks back. Which means an hour less of evening fishing time and much colder temperatures.

Christmas tree cutting permits will be available Wednesday, Nov. 1 on the Carson and Bridgeport Ranger Districts and Monday, Nov. 6 for the Lake Tahoe Basin, the U.S. Forest Service announced.
