Carson High CTE, FFA sell floral arrangements for breast cancer and domestic violence awareness
Carson High School Career and Technical Education floriculture students led by agriculture teacher, Charlie Mann, are taking orders for floral arrangements created and sold to benefit local breast cancer and domestic violence charitable organizations. Orders will be accepted through Oct. 12.
“My students came up with this idea of making arrangements that would help raise awareness of domestic violence and breast cancer,” Mann said. “I am extremely proud of them for coming up with this idea on their own because they are wanting to help others as well as bring awareness to our community.”
Mann said a percentage of proceeds from the sale will be given to the Carson Tahoe Breast Cancer Center and the Nevada Network against Domestic Violence.
“One way that you are able to raise awareness and send a message is through flowers and the color of the flowers.” Mann said. “These arrangements will reflect the pinks and purples associated with both and have a pinwheel and the breast cancer ribbon in it.”
Orders for the $25 arrangements may be placed by calling Mann at (775) 283-1690 or by email at cmann@carson.k12.nv.us. Arrangement delivery will be between Oct. 19-22.

Carson High School’s Career and Technical Education program encompasses a vast number of classes and programs that teach today's students the high demand skills needed to get a job.
CTE better prepares students for post-secondary education and/or the world of work, whether they choose to enter the work place directly from high school, or select to pursue post-secondary education in a technical training program, apprenticeship, or a two, or four year college. CTE prepares students for the world of work by introducing them to workplace competencies, and makes academic content accessible to students by providing it in a hands-on context.
