In its fifth year, Carson City-based Feeding Pets of the Homeless, a national nonprofit organization, is hosting a free Duffield Pet Wellness Clinic today, Saturday, for pets belonging to families experiencing homelessness or financial hardship.
Veterinarians and staff from Peak Urgent Care of Reno and Riverside Veterinary Hospital out of Dayton joined Feeding Pets of the Homeless for the Duffield Pet Wellness Clinic, providing free vaccinations and wellness exams to pets belonging to homeless and low-income individuals in Carson City.

As of 10:30 a.m. dozens of people have signed up their dogs and cats for vaccinations. The Duffield Pet Wellness Clinic event is hosted annually by Pets of the Homeless and the Dave and Cheryl Duffield Foundation. Also on hand for the event is CASI, helping sign in pet owners for for its spay and neuter program.

The event is held at FISH, which also provides pet food collected from donors for the homeless and those with financial hardship who are in need of pet food to feed their animals. FISH is located at 138 East Long Street in Carson City. The clinic continues until around noon.
