Mystery, melodrama and western barbecue on the menu with V&T's 'Train to Danger'
High stakes Wild West melodrama and action-packed adventure are on the menu Saturday, Aug. 13, Saturday, Sept. 10 and Saturday, Oct. 8 as passengers board V&T Railroad “Train to Danger” dinner tour. Directed by Carla Wilson and written by John Burkhart, “Train to Danger” tells the story of railroad heiresses, the Pullman sisters, as they are stranded in a snowstorm in Hidden Gulch.
Handsome engineer Tom Truetrack is charged with seeing the sisters safely back to the depot. While villain Simon Sidetrack has more nefarious plans in mind, including gaining control of the railroad through marriage with the oldest Pullman sister. Will Simon’s evil plot to abscond with the sisters’ inheritance money work? Or can Tom Truetrack save the day on the “Train to Danger?”
Train and theater enthusiasts with a zest for mystery can climb aboard the V&T to find out the Pullmans’ fate and enjoy a hearty western barbecue chicken and tri tip dinner with all the sides, drinks and dessert at the depot, Aug. 13, Sept. 10 and Oct. 8.

Meanwhile, leave the kids at home for the Toast of the Canyon “Date Night” excursion. With Northern Nevada high desert scenery as the backdrop, this tour that runs select Saturdays through Oct. 15. Passengers travel 45-minutes south of the Carson City Depot into the Carson River Canyon with an opportunity to photograph the "Iron Horse" as it unhooks from the passenger cars to re-attach at the front of train for the return. The breath taking scenery is paired with appetizers provided by Red’s Old 395 Grill and a glass of wine.
Toast of the Canyon departs the Carson City Eastgate Depot at 5 p.m. and returns at 6 p.m. Tickets are just $25.
The V&T Railroad celebrates locals with new opportunities for Nevada residents and young train enthusiasts to experience the Silver State’s ultimate Old West train ride. Nevadans receive 20 percent off Sunday rides through Oct. 16. The Nevada local’s discount excludes holidays and theme trains. Tickets for the Polar Express aboard the V&T go on sale Aug. 20 with rides planned for the holiday season beginning Nov. 17. The one-hour round trip journey to the North Pole has consistently sold out and is expected to draw record numbers again this holiday season.
