UPDATE: Both directions of I-580 in Washoe Valley are closed Sunday afternoon due to blowing snow, low visibility and multiple vehicle spin-outs and a pileup, according to Nevada State Police and the Nevada Department of Transportation.
No serious injuries have been reported at this time, according to Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue. Both northbound and southbound I-580 lanes have been closed from the area of Bowers Mansion to Eastlake Boulevard due to multiple vehicle spinouts causing a pileup involving at least 20 vehicles, dispatch advised.
The crash was first reported at 1:46 p.m. NDOT alerted motorists via Twitter that all southbound lanes are closed and then advised that northbound lanes were closed as well. Dispatch alerted Carson City Sheriff's Office dispatch that as of around 3 p.m. both northbound and southbound lanes were closed.
