Tahoe symphony’s Coming Home: American Symphonic and Choral Works (Appalachian Spring and Jubilate Deo)
October 4 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Join us for an unforgettable evening of music that celebrates unity, heritage, and the spirit of America. TOCCATA Tahoe Symphony presents Dan Forrest’s Jubilate Deo and Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring, two masterpieces that showcase the richness and diversity of the American musical voice.
Aaron Copland’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Appalachian Spring captures the optimism of 19th-century America. Written for ballet, it tells the story of a young couple building a life together and features the beloved Shaker melody “Simple Gifts”, a timeless symbol of joy in life’s simplest blessings.
Dan Forrest’s Jubilate Deo transforms Psalm 100 into a global choral journey across seven languages: Latin, Hebrew, Arabic, Mandarin, Zulu, Spanish, and English. This 50-minute masterpiece culminates in a breathtaking finale where voices unite to proclaim a shared song of joy from “all the earth.”
Guest conductor Dr. Pierre Tang leads the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus in this powerful program that bridges tradition and modern expression, offering audiences an evening of music that uplifts and inspires.
