Carson City Symphony Accepting Musicians to begin rehearsals for April 27th Mountain Majesties Concert

April 27, 2025 @ 6:00 pm 8:30 pm

Attention musicians! The Carson City Symphony, conducted by Music Director David Bugli and Assistant Conductor Brian Fox, will begin rehearsals on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, for their next concert.

Weekly rehearsals are Wednesdays, from 6:20 to 8:30 p.m., at the Carson High School band/orchestra room, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City. Dress rehearsal is Saturday morning, April 26, on stage at the Carson City Community Center.

The concert, “Mountain Majesties,” on Sunday, April 27, will include the world premiere of “Other Side of the Mountain” by Steven Rosenhaus, featuring Alphorn ensemble Salzburger Echo.

Since 1992, Salzburger Echo has played at countless venues and many of the largest festivals throughout the United States and Europe, and continues to amaze audiences with their twelve-foot alphorns.

The program also will include Mendelssohn’s “Hebrides Overture” (“Fingal’s Cave”), Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King,” Bugli’s “Ruby Mountain Reflections,” Moussorgsky’s “A Night on Bald Mountain,” Brubaker’s “Rocky Mountain Majesty,” and two other pieces for multiple alphorns and orchestra.

The Symphony is a volunteer orchestra of about 55 players who perform music from the 15th to the 21st centuries. It is open to string players at any time without audition, and to other instrumentalists when positions are available.

Current openings are for strings, clarinets, bassoon, and oboe. Musicians who are interested in joining should contact the Symphony at 775-883-4154 or email carsoncitysymphony@gmail.com.
