
As an area of high pressure strengthens over the West, record temperatures are possible Wednesday and Thursday in several locations in Western Nevada and the Sierra, the National Weather Service in Reno reports.
The table in the Weather Service graphic above provides a quick summary of a few of the locations around the area with the forecast high, the record high (in red), and the year of the record high. Carson City is not expected to break the record high temperatures, which were set in 1934, with highs of 77 and 78. The expected high temperature for Carson City on Wednesday and Thursday is 74 degrees both days.
South Lake Tahoe, Virginia City and Reno are cities that could tie or break the record highs, according to the weather service.
