For the second consecutive year, Smokey the Bear will be celebrating Arbor Day with the Carson City Shade Tree Council. The celebration begins at 5:30 p.m. on April 29, 2011 and will be held at Governor’s Field (behind Lowe’s). The festivities are approximately an hour long. Smokey will arrive at Governor’s Field in a Nevada Division of Forestry fire tender.
Smokey will also have “goodie” bags for the children attending the celebration. Smokey will help the Council and its guests plant a Northern Red Maple selected by the staff of the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department.
