A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, obstructing and resisting an officer, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
A deputy was called to the 1800 block of College Parkway for a possible domestic dispute. The deputy met with the reporting party who stated the suspect had been drinking and driving erratically before she demanded to be let out of a car after he had picked her up from work.
She said earlier in the day, the man had picked her up for lunch at around 1 p.m. and she could tell he had been drinking by his attitude and mannerisms. She said there were several “shooter bottles” in the back seat of the car, the report states. When she confronted him about him drinking and having the “shooter” bottles in the backseat, he admitted to drinking before going and getting them food for lunch.
She stated he was approximately 45 minutes late picking her up after her workday was done and when he arrived to pick her up, he was slurring his words and she could smell alcohol on his breath, the report states. She said they began arguing in the car and when they arrived home she attempted to exit the vehicle. However, when she opened the door, she said he put the car in reverse and whipped the vehicle around so fast that she was unable to close the door, having to hold onto the door and center console to stop from being flung out of the car.
She stated she began yelling at him and hit him so he would pull over and let her out of the car. She stated she could see the speedometer was at approximately 80 mph and that he was driving wildly. She described the vehicle and stated it was registered under her name, according to the report.
The vehicle was located on Hot Springs Road and the man was subsequently detained approximately 200 yards west of the parked vehicle. The report notes the man had also called dispatch and stated that both he and the woman had been drinking and had parked the vehicle on the side of the road.
The man initially denied to conduct standardized field sobriety tests, appearing extremely nervous and was informed he was being detained for the investigation. The man stated he knew the difference and was willing to talk, the report states. He told the deputy he had not gone to work because he didn’t have enough money for gas to get to Reno but ended up going to Reno and having drinks at one of the casinos while picking up lunch for the woman’s family, according to the report.
He initially stated he had two shooters, then changed his story to having only a vodka-based mixed drink before driving back to Carson City to pick up the woman from work. He told the deputy that while driving home, she had accused him of cheating and then punched him five times in the mouth before he pulled over to let her out of the car.
The deputy informed the man the woman wanted the keys to her car back. He stated the keys were in his right back pocket. The deputy retrieved the keys and later gave them to the woman. The deputy asked if he would submit to standardized field sobriety tests, in which he agreed.
The man showed clues of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .161 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. The man was read the request for evidentiary testing. He stated he would not voluntarily submit to an evidentiary breath or blood test, the report states.
He then became verbally argumentative with deputies and showed signs of aggression by yelling and screaming, stating he would not willingly allow the on-duty phlebotomist to draw blood even if a warrant was granted. The man was taken to the hospital for medical clearance. The deputy had a conference call with the on-call district attorney and on-call judge, who granted a warrant for an evidentiary blood draw.
The man was combative with both deputies and taken to jail due to safety concerns. The on-call phlebotomist successfully drew two vials of blood. The man was booked for suspicion of DUI, obstructing and resisting. Bail: $1,961.

— A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Tuesday in the area of Eagle Station and South Carson Street for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. Bail: $3,000.
— A 35-year-old Reno man was arrested Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor driving with a revoked license and operating a vehicle with expired registration. Bail: $1,252.
— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant out of Justice and Municipal Court of Carson City. Bail: $500 cash.
