A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of felony third offense domestic battery, a sheriff’s deputy said.

Flynn Robert Gabriel was taken into custody in the 2700 block of Highway 50 East. According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of East William Street regarding a domestic battery. Deputies spoke with the victim who said the couple had been traveling in their vehicle with Gabriel as a passenger.

When the man attempted to jump out of the vehicle, the victim said her right open hand struck the man’s chest area as she was attempting to grab his shirt to prevent him from exiting the moving vehicle, the arrest report states.

The victim said the man began to punch the woman on her right shoulder and the right side of her neck area with his fists. The woman pulled into the parking lot where the man exited the car and walked away eastbound on William Street. Deputies photographed the woman’s injuries.

The man was located a few minutes later near the intersection of East William and Lompa. He was asked about the incident. The man said he may have hit the woman but didn’t remember. He said that if he had hit her it was only because she had hit him first, the arrest report states.

He said he remembered hitting the car dash board. The officer observed a fresh, bloody scrape on his right hand small finger knuckle. The man was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. A records check through dispatch indicated he had been convicted twice for prior domestic battery incidents, according to the arrest report. Bail: $15,137.

In other arrests:
— A 19-year-old Arizona man was arrested Tuesday, 4:09 p.m. in the area of Jewell Avenue and Cardinal Way for misdemeanor suspicion of soliciting without permit.

According to the arrest report deputies were called to the area regarding a suspicious subject who may have been posing as a cable TV salesman. Officers were aware of earlier reports of two males pretending to be TV salesmen and obtained credit card information from an elderly citizen. The credit card information was immediately used fraudulently, the arrest report states.

A deputy located the subject who was wearing three t-shirts, one of them red. He advised he works for a company, and provided a name of the company and said it part of a larger company. He did not have a solicitor’s permit or any company information, the arrest report states.

The man had a note pad with a few notes and nothing identifying him as an employee of any company, the arrest report states. He didn’t have a wallet or identification of any kind.

He appeared very nervous due to the recent calls of suspects matching the description of those involved in fraud. He was detained and read his Miranda warning. He said he was dropped off by his boss in the area to go door to door to try to sell cable service upgrades. He provided a name of the supervisor but there was no answer as the number was disconnected, the arrest report states.

A deputy did an internet check for the name of the company the man provided. There wasn’t an official website but a blank Facebook page was filled with complaints about the company being a scam, the arrest report states. The man said he was recruited out of Mesa, Ariz., and was staying at an unknown location in the Reno where he had been making money for his boss.

The man was unable to provide his address, social security number or any other identifying items. Dispatch attempted to identify him through the limited information he provided but there wasn’t a record found. The officer attempted to contact several phone numbers of family provided by the man in an attempt to confirm his identity, without initial success.

The man was arrested for soliciting without a permit. He continued to claim his innocence and stated he had no idea what he was doing was a scam, the arrest report states. Eventually the officer was able to contact a woman the man said was his sister. The woman turned out to be a friend who contacted the man’s grandmother to get his social security number. He was booked into jail. Other attempts to identify the man’s associates are ongoing, the arrest report states. Bail: $637.

— A 22-year-old transient was arrested Tuesday, 9:22 p.m. in the 400 block of North Carson Street for two violation of suspended sentence warrants issued Dec. 31, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $6,000. A second man, 43, was also arrested for a violation of suspended sentence warrant issued August 16, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 3:55 p.m. in the area of East Long and Humboldt streets for a misdemeanor warrant alleging petit larceny, issued Jan. 29, 2019 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— A 23-year-old transient was arrested Wednesday, 6:05 p.m. in the area of East Caroline and North Plaza streets for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Jan. 28, 2019. Bail: $500.
