Deep monsoonal moisture and daytime heating will increase shower and thunderstorm chances for Carson City and surrounding counties Tuesday afternoon and evening, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Flash Flood Watch.
Storms that form over the eastern Sierra and Tahoe region into western Nevada from the Reno, Carson City and Carson Valley areas southward to Mineral County are more likely to be slow moving or redeveloping over similar areas, increasing the risk for heavy rainfall capable of producing flash flooding, NWS forecasters said.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, urban areas, burn scars and areas near steep terrain, according to the weather service.

The watch area includes the Carson City, Carson Valley and Reno areas, southern Lyon and Mineral counties and the greater Lake Tahoe area as well as Alpine and Mono counties in California.
The weather service advises people to monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
