Carson City Sherrif’s Search and Rescue (CCSSAR) responded to an injured cyclist that was participating in the Paydirt Bicycle Race Saturday May 16th.
The cyclist was found to be seriously injured and in shock.

Douglas County SAR also arrived to provide further assistance. The cyclist was airlifted to Renown Hospital by Battle Born Medevac.

The cyclist’s partner and their bikes were then transported by a CCSSAR ground unit to the Fuji Park staging area.

CCSSAR annually assists the Paydirt Bicycle Race. This includes deploying a Command unit, Jeeps, Quad ATVs, and Side by Side throughout the Brunswick Canyon area.

SAR members provide assistance to cyclists experiencing injuries and mechanical breakdowns.

In addition to the injured cyclist, several minor abrasions were assessed and some cyclists with mechanical breakdowns were transported out of the canyon.

CCSSAR is a volunteer branch of the Carson City Sheriff’s Department and a non-profit 501(c)(3). If you are interested in joining or donating to CCSSAR, please visit our website at https://carsonsar.wordpress.com/
