Local historian Jed Block will highlight “Through the Lens of Time — A Historic Photo Roundup of Carson City” at a June 20 Carson City Historical Society presentation.

If you’ve ever heard Jed Block speak, you already know — this isn’t just history, it’s an experience. A longtime Carson City historian with a knack for uncovering the stories behind the stories, Jed has spent years bringing Nevada’s capital to life through his engaging, often humorous presentations. As he puts it, “I’ve always believed history isn’t just about dates — it’s about people. And Carson City’s history is filled with a cast of characters unlike anywhere else in the West.”

A frequent speaker for local organizations and historical programs, Jed is especially known for pairing his talks with fascinating historic photographs — often prompting audiences to say, “I never knew that!” more than once.

As part of the Carson City Historical Society’s America250 Nevada series, Through the Lens of Time — A Historic Photo Roundup of Carson City, Jed’s upcoming program invites us to look a little closer at the people, places, and moments that shaped our community. “The more you look into our local history, the more you realize how deeply connected we are to the larger American story,” Jed notes.

“We’re especially proud to welcome Jed for this program,” said Liz Cain, President of the Carson City Historical Society. “He is a lifetime member of CCHS and has always been such a generous supporter of our organization. His passion for Carson City’s history — and his ability to share it in such an engaging way — make him a true
treasure in our community.”

This special presentation also serves as a fundraiser for the Carson City Historical Society, helping support the organization’s ongoing mission to preserve and share Carson City’s rich history through community programs, lectures, tours, and events.
Equal parts insightful and enjoyable, his lectures are perfect for both devoted history lovers and those who simply enjoy a good story well told.

Join us on Saturday, June 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the The Nevada Room, Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive, Carson City. Admission: $10 for CCHS members and $20 for non-members.

Tickets available at CCHistorical.org or call 775-315-9111 for more information.
