The Carson City Treasurer’s Office is reminding property owners that the third installment for the payment of real property taxes in Nevada is due on or before Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, for the current tax year (July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026). Nevada law sets the due dates for property owners to submit property tax payments, and it also sets the penalties a property owner must pay for late or missed payments.
Property owners can send or make property tax payments by any of the following options:
- Online at www.carson.org/taxes (from now until Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026) or carsoncity.gov/taxes (effective Thursday, January 8, 2026).
- Online bill-pay through the property owner’s bank (please be sure to include the property’s parcel number).
- In-person or by mail to the Carson City Treasurer’s Office:
- 201 N. Carson City, Suite 5, Carson City, Nevada 89701
- Green payment box that is located on the east side of City Hall.
The Carson City Treasurer’s Office reminds property owners with a mortgage to verify if their mortgage lender submits the required property tax payments for them.
Also, the Carson City Treasurer’s Office is asking Carson City property and business owners with water/sewer/stormwater accounts to check the payment status of their accounts. Although Carson City does not shut off water for delinquent payments — except in very rare situations — it does transfer any delinquent balances owed for water/sewer/stormwater charges for any property to the real property taxes in July for the new property tax bill that starts on July 1st of that year.
For example, if a property owes $300 in delinquent water/sewer/stormwater charges by the end of June 2026, and these delinquent charges go unpaid, Carson City will transfer this unpaid balance of $300 to the new real property tax bill issued in July 2026 as allowed under Nevada Revised Statutes and Carson City Municipal Code.
The transfer of any unpaid water/sewer/stormwater charges will appear as a special assessment on the real property tax bill for this parcel, and if this parcel has its taxes paid by a mortgage impound account, this may cause an increase in the mortgage payment for this increased tax liability.
If Carson City property owners have questions about their property taxes or the payment status of their water/sewer/stormwater accounts, they can contact the Carson City Treasurer’s Office at 775-887-2092 or at treasurer@carsoncity.gov.
