For 15 years the Jazz and Beyond Music and Art Festival has been music to the ears of Carson City visitors and residents alike during the month of August.
Music could be heard wafting through the air of downtown Carson City once again Saturday afternoon into the evening as the 2018 Jazz and Beyond Music and Art Festival played its first of three weekends in the Nevada state capital.
Saturday’s smoky skies cleared earlier in the afternoon as if to make way for the outdoor music venues to follow.
From the Downtown Business Association’s monthly Wine Walk to the Carson City Historical Society’s annual Ice Cream Social and even the weekly Levitt AMP Carson City Summer Concert Series, melodies played in harmony with an August summer weekend.
The Millennium Bugs entertained listeners sitting on the lawn of the Foreman-Roberts House, 1207 N. Carson Street, during the annual Ice Cream Social hosted by the Carson City Historical Society.
Several musicians and music groups played throughout downtown Carson City during the monthly Wine Walk. Among them, Mylo McCormick was the featured musical artist at the Purple Avocado, 904 N. Curry Street; Nerds of Paradise jammed it up at the Carson City Art Gallery, corner of Second and Curry streets; and Alex “Muddy” Smith performed at Touched By Angels on East John Street.
Then homegrown Northern Nevada band, the Trippin’ King Snakes, took to the Minnesota Street Stage at the Brewery Arts Center to open Saturday’s Levitt AMP free summer concert for Frobeck, a San Francisco Bay Area and Grammy-nominated music group.
