Sierra Nevada Forum on Local Journalism & Politics is September 9th at The Brewery Arts Center

The Sierra Nevada Forums, in partnership with the AAUW Capital Branch and League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada will host “The Fourth Estate: How Local Journalists Report on Nevada Politics” a panel discussion on Tuesday September 9 at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W King St in Carson City. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the program starts at 6 pm. The Nevada Appeal and KUNR are the media co-sponsors. This is the first forum of the eleventh season of free community forums on topics of current interest.
The forum will be moderated by Lucia Starbuck, political reporter for KUNR. Panelists include Adam Trumble, publisher/owner of the Nevada Appeal; Paul Boger, KNPR Northern Nevada reporter and producer; Tabitha Mueller, Capital Bureau Chief for the Nevada Independent; and Arianna Bennett, Anchor, KTVN 2 News in Reno.
The discussion will include a brief overview of Nevada’s recent legislative session as well as journalistic ethics, fact checking in real time, the existential threats to free speech, and how local media can build trust and credibility during these unprecedented times. Time is reserved for written questions from members of the audience.
