A Thanksgiving tradition in Carson City that has brought community members to the dinner table at the Carson Nugget for decades drew nearly 1,000 people for a delicious family-style meal Thursday.

Each Thanksgiving the Carson Nugget has cooked up dozens of turkeys, mountains of mashed potatoes, stuffing, gallons of gravy and hundreds of dinner rolls and pies free to anyone who wants to celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

With a line that began forming before 10 a.m., the event has grown to be among the biggest and best Thanksgiving Day dinners throughout western Nevada.

Hosted by the Carson Nugget, the feed is also sponsored by Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH and the Carson City Salvation Army.
