By Bridget Gordon-Johnson, CHS Counselor — Carson High School is proud to recognize Eleanor Romeo as this week’s Senior in the Spotlight. Eleanor is an exceptional student, leader and community member whose dedication, character and ambition have set her apart throughout her high school career.

Known for her unwavering work ethic and positive attitude, Eleanor has excelled in some of the most rigorous academic courses available at CHS, including multiple Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) classes.

Eleanor currently boasts a 5.1 GPA and is an active member of Carson High School Student Council. She is also a CTE Completer in Graphic Design, showing her creative side and commitment to developing diverse skills. She will graduate as an AP Capstone Diploma Candidate and with a College and Career Readiness Honors Diploma.

Eleanor was also part of the Carson High School Cross Country Team that won the state championship in 2023.

Eleanor’s leadership and service extend far beyond the classroom. She has been actively involved in her church community and has participated in various community service projects that reflect her compassion and drive to make a positive impact.

Eleanor’s family has supported her love of service and adventure, and their close-knit support and encouragement have allowed her to fly. Her ability to build meaningful relationships with peers, teachers and community members speaks to her kindness, empathy and integrity — qualities that make her a respected leader among her classmates. Her quirky sense of humor and quick wit are also skills which quickly endear her to others.

Eleanor’s goal to serve her country through military leadership has guided her post-secondary plans. She recently earned the prestigious Naval ROTC Scholarship and is currently awaiting admission decisions from all five U.S. Service Academies she applied to: West Point, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Merchant Marine Academy and Coast Guard Academy. Demonstrating just how highly regarded she is, Eleanor earned congressional nominations from all three of Nevada’s federal legislators — Congressman Mark Amodei, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto and Senator Jacky Rosen — an extraordinary accomplishment.

Eleanor’s commitment to leadership, service and excellence makes her a shining example of the best of Carson High School. We are excited to see where her journey takes her and have no doubt that she will continue to make a meaningful difference in the world. Congratulations, Eleanor, on all you have achieved and all that lies ahead.
