Plumas Bank has donated $30,000 to supporting financial literacy initiatives across its communities through partnerships and contributions to six exceptional organizations. With a total donation of $5,000 to each organization, these funds will help provide critical financial literacy assistance to small businesses, fostering economic development and empowerment across our service footprint including rural and underserved areas.

“Financial literacy is an essential skill for businesses, families and individuals to thrive; as a community bank with deep community ties in northeastern California and northern Nevada, we are committed to supporting organizations that bolster financial literacy,” said BJ North, chief banking officer at Plumas Bank.

Plumas Bank’s donations will directly support these organizations’ efforts to improve financial literacy, provide entrepreneurial coaching, and create opportunities for sustainable business growth:

Nevada Small Business Development Center (Nevada SBDC)
Covering Washoe and Carson City counties, Nevada SBDC is the first call for entrepreneurs seeking to grow their businesses. Plumas Bank’s donation will help expand Nevada SBDC’s educational offerings and resources for small businesses in the region.

  • 3CORE
A federally recognized Economic Development District and Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), 3CORE focuses on economic development and small business support through no-cost financial education, business mentoring, and lending programs. Plumas Bank’s donation will further 3CORE’s mission of helping small businesses scale and thrive in northern California.
  • Superior California Economic Development (SCED)
SCED supports entrepreneurs by offering business loans, commercial real estate financing, and economic development planning. Plumas Bank’s contribution will bolster SCED’s efforts to grow businesses and create jobs in northern California by expanding financing options and providing vital financial literacy resources.
  • Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN)
EDAWN collaborates with investors and partners to diversify the Greater Reno-Sparks-Tahoe economy and create quality jobs. Plumas Bank’s support will enhance EDAWN’s financial literacy initiatives and economic development programs.
  • Sierra Business Council
With a mission to enhance the Sierra Nevada region through community empowerment, environmental stewardship, and economic development, Sierra Business Council will use Plumas Bank’s funding to expand financial literacy support for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
  • Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC)
RCAC, a nonprofit CDFI, provides technical and financial assistance to Indigenous and rural communities. Plumas Bank’s partnership will enhance RCAC’s training and advocacy programs, supporting communities with populations under 50,000.

In addition to monetary donations, Plumas Bank is providing a $2,500 in-kind furniture donation to The Quincy Hub, an umbrella entity supporting the Indian Valley Innovation Hub, Made in Plumas County, Quincy Chamber of Commerce, and Plumas County Visitors Center.

Plumas Bank’s leadership is actively involved in these organizations, with employees serving on various boards and collaborating closely to advance their missions. Reinvesting in the communities where Plumas Bank operates is an ongoing commitment since Plumas Bank was founded 45 years ago.
