Three are in custody on felony charges after a couple was robbed at gunpoint in their apartment Saturday morning in the 1400 block of Woodside Drive, a Carson City sheriff’s lieutenant said.
The suspects, two men and a women from the Sacramento area, were arrested after several 911 calls were made to Carson City dispatch reporting yelling, screaming and men with guns coming out of an apartment in the Stanton Arms complex, said Lt. Brian Humphrey.
Arrested were: Joseph Moore, 33; Jamal Kemp, 28, and Tashawn Sharp, 34, a former Carson City resident now living in Sacramento. Each face felony robbery and other charges.
Carson City patrol deputies arrived on scene shortly before 10:30 a.m., finding two of the suspects hiding in an apartment in the complex. The female suspect was also located. All three suspects were detained within minutes of the 911 calls.
“The patrol officers arrived and set up a perimeter and rounded them up,” said Humphrey. Detectives were called to investigate and learned the trio allegedly went to the apartment complex to collect on money apparently they claimed was owed to them. When the victims didn’t produce the money, the suspects drew guns, took items from the residence and fled the scene.
Nobody was injured in the robbery and there wasn’t any gunfire. The suspects did have weapons on them. They are being booked into Carson City jail facing felony robbery charges.
It is the second robbery in a week where suspects have been arrested in which they knew victims and were collecting money, said Humphrey. On Saturday, Jan. 31, a robbery happened at a North Edmonds apartment in which there was gunfire and the victim was grazed by a bullet. Two suspects, a male and female, were subsequently arrested this week in Fallon and face felony robbery charges.
