An 84-year-old man was arrested Friday, Dec. 26 for felony warrants alleging sexual assault against a child under 14 and lewdness with a minor, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
Carson Now has withheld the name of the suspect because the juvenile victim in the crimes alleged may result in identifying the victim. The suspect, who lives in Carson City, was taken into custody at 11:12 a.m. at the Carson City Senior Center. His bail is set at $1 million.
According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, the juvenile and her family live in Lyon County. The crimes that are alleged happened in Carson City. The juvenile is the granddaughter of the suspect and made disclosures that her grandfather had sexually assaulted her for several years with devices, said Sheriff Furlong.
Carson City Sheriff’s Office investigated, a search warrant was executed and the devices were retrieved, lending credibility to the victim’s story, which then led to the arrest warrant, said Sheriff Furlong.
According to the booking report, deputies assigned to serve the warrant arrived at an address where the suspect was believed to be living. The leasing office advised he had transferred units to a California Street address. A neighbor advised they knew the man and said he normally gets lunch at the Carson City Senior Center, the report states.
Deputies responded to the Carson City Senior Center and were shown where the man was sitting. The man identified himself by his name. Officers took him into custody for the warrants. He was booked without incident and remains an inmate at Carson City Jail with a $1 million bail amount.
In other arrests:
— A 65-year-old Carson City man was arrested Dec. 27 for suspicion of felony attempted grand larceny of a motor vehicle and gross misdemeanor destruction of property, according to a CCSO booking report.
William Nicholas Chomes was taken into custody in the 2100 block of East William Street following an investigation. According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to a Pilot Peak address for a property injury report. Deputies interviewed the reporting party who’s stated that at around 1:15 they heard a noise that sounded like machinery and stated the noise was coming from outside the guest room at his residence.
The reporting party stated they looked outside and observed a man operating a skid steer that was parked in the backyard of the property. The reporting party stated he went out to confront the man in the skid steer. The RP told deputies the man said he was picking up the skid steer for the owner of the company, the report states.
The reporting party said he recognized the man to be Chomes and stated Chomes worked for a company and had recently been fired. The RP stated Chomes destroyed the freshly graded dirt in the backyard and got the skid steer stuck. The RP stated he told Chomes to leave the residence, which he did.
During the investigation, deputies made contact with Chomes in the 2100 block of East William, where he was seen walking around a parking lot. Chomes was taken into custody and read his Miranda warning.
Deputies also interviewed a person from the company that owned the skid steer who said Chomes had no reason to be at the residence or to be on the skid steer and that he had been staying in their ice shed near the Parole and Probation building driving their trucks.
Deputies learned during the interview that Chomes was fired from the company and had not been working for them. The company estimated the damage to the backyard would cost around $2,500 to fix. Bail: $5,000.
— A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Dec. 27 for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Dec. 9, 2025 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000 cash.
— A 54-year-old Gardnerville woman was arrested at 2:58 a.m. in the 500 block of North Carson Street for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,500.
— A 22-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Dec. 26 for a misdemeanor outside agency warrant issued out of East Fork Justice Court. Bail: $1,078.
— A 60-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Dec. 27, 5:26 p.m. in the 4700 block of East Nye Lane for suspicion of DUI.
According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of West 4th Street regarding a subject driving while intoxicated. The reporting party advised the driver showed up at at their home intoxicated and left the residence, last seen traveling eastbound on 4th Street and gave a description of the vehicle and where the suspect lived, which was in the 4700 block of East Nye Lane.
A deputy parked their patrol vehicle in the area of East Nye Lane near the address and observed the driver pull into the driveway. The deputy activated their red and blue emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop. The woman back out of her driveway, nearly striking the patrol car, then drove back into it. She then struck her own fence and ultimately parked the vehicle, the report states.
The deputy gave the woman verbal commands to park her car and step out of it. She was able to turn off the vehicle but remained inside the report states.
Deputies then made contact with the woman, who was disoriented and had thick, slurred speech. A deputy asked if she was having a medical issue. The woman said no. The deputy asked if she had been drinking. She said yes.
The woman was asked if she would be willing to to submit to standardized field sobriety tests. The woman said no. The deputy asked if she would be willing to take a preliminary breath test. She said no. The deputy asked the woman how much she had to drink. The woman replied “A lot!” the report states.
The woman was escorted to the front of the patrol vehicle. While walking to the patrol car the woman used her car to help her balance, swaying back and forth as she continued. At one point, the woman tripped into the officer, who caught her by the arm to prevent her from falling, the report states.
The deputy again asked if she wanted to submit to SFSTs and she said no. the officer also asked her again whether she wanted to take a preliminary breath test. She said no. While speaking to the woman the deputy noticed her eyes were red and watery. She also had a strong odor of alcohol coming form her person, the report states.
She was arrested for suspicion of DUI. The woman was read the request for voluntary evidence. The woman refused testing. Deputies took her to the hospital for medical clearance and a possible blood draw. The deputy contacted the on-call judge and the Carson City District Attorney’s Office for a telephonic blood seizure order. The order was granted and a phlebotomist conducted a single series blood draw from the woman. She was then taken to jail for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,137.
— A 46-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday for a misdemeanor outside agency warrant issued Dec. 10, 2025 out of Walker River Township Court. Bail: $1,145 cash.
— A 39-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for a misdemeanor outside agency warrant issued Dec. 22, 2023 out of East Fork Township Justice Court. Bail: $1,078.
— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for a misdemeanor warrant alleging domestic battery second offense. The warrant was issued Dec. 18, 2025 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
