The following release was issued by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. No information has been included about the status of the dog, but we have requested additional details.
On 12/17/2025, at 1227 hours, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received multiple emergency 911 calls reporting an aircraft down in the area of 1100 US Highway 50 in Silver Springs.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene and confirmed a single engine aircraft had crashed.
Deputies located two occupants and one dog inside the aircraft. The occupants required assistance from Fire / EMS personnel to exit.
Two Air Medevac assets from Battle Born Medevac were also dispatched to the scene to assist Sheriff and EMS personnel.
The aircraft was identified by the tail number, and notifications were made to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
Both passengers were transported by air to a local hospital. The incident occurred away from the highway, and no other injuries, or damage to property was reported.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has secured the scene. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work with the FAA and the NTSB during the course of the investigation.
