A 40-year-old man, suspected in a domestic-related kidnapping, was arrested Monday following a pursuit that ended near the county line, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
Anthony Selleck was taken into custody at 7:49 p.m. He was booked for suspicion of felony obstructing a public officer, eluding and possession of a controlled substance. He may face other charges in Washoe County.
According to the report, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a Washoe County Sheriff’s Office sergeant to assist in a kidnapping that occurred earlier Monday. The WCSO sergeant advised they were investigating the kidnapping of Selleck’s fiancé and that Selleck was the suspect.
WCSO informed CCSO that when they attempted to stop Selleck, he took off in the vehicle. This led to a short pursuit in Washoe County with deputies. The pursuit was stopped due to public safety concerns. The WCSO sergeant informed CCSO they had received cell phone pings showing Selleck was in Carson City, according to the report.
Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the locations to assist in locating the man. After approximately 45 minutes of searching, the suspect vehicle was located, parked in the parking lot in the 4000 block of South Curry Street.
The female believed to be the one kidnapped got out of the vehicle and Selleck left in the vehicle southbound. CCSO Special Enforcement Team officers followed him in unmarked vehicles to the 4300 block of South Carson Street.
The suspect stopped at the location and parked then went back to the parking lot area on South Curry Street. Fearing the man would get access to the woman that he dropped off, deputies attempted to block the vehicle but were unsuccessful, the report states.
The vehicle pulled out and eluded deputies on South Curry Street. The vehicle failed to stop at the stop signed controlled intersection of Clearview Drive and South Curry. The vehicle continued south going approximately 60 mph and again failed to stop at the stop sign at Cochise Street and Appion Way. The vehicle continued south, ultimately driving on dirt roads to a quarry pit where he drove his vehicle up hill and got stuck. A foot pursuit followed, where the man jumped a barbed wire fence into a storage facility in the 700 block of Old Clear Creek. After an extensive search, deputies located the man attempting to hop another fence near Costco where the man was located and surrendered.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office sergeant advised they located the woman, who had some injuries from a physical altercation with Selleck. She stated to WCSO deputies the man did hold her against her will and that at one point he took her phone to prevent her from calling 911. During an inventory of the vehicle, deputies located a baggie of suspected methamphetamine residue. Bail: $20,000.
