The third and final storm in a series will be a quick moving weather system expected to bring Sierra snow, wind, valley rain and the potential for icy roadways Monday to Carson City and surrounding counties, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters advise roadways, which may already be slick due to overnight refreezing, may be slick between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. for the Reno and Carson City area morning commutes. A rain-snow mix is possible and windy conditions near Washoe Lake may reduce visibility, forecasters said.

For those headed over mountain passes, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday for Lake Tahoe and Sierra. NWS forecasters say travelers can expect snow accumulations of up to 6 inches west of Highway 89 with up to an inch at lake level with ridge winds gusting as high as 80 mph.

Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions and impacts during the Monday morning and evening commutes. See NVroads.com for the latest travel information.
