Carson City’s own Santa Train, a longstanding holiday family tradition for 37 years, is down to three days left to ride, including this Sunday and again next weekend, Dec. 20-21 at the Nevada State Railroad Museum.

Riders on Saturday packed the train beginning at 10 a.m., continuing through 3 p.m. The train will fire back up Sunday morning, Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. and then again next Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 20-21.

The thrill of the all-ages train experience is not only for the little ones but adults as well, where Santa is always peppered with questions about the train, the North Pole, Mrs. Santa and helpers. The jolly man even passes out candy canes to everyone.

Before the ride, the train depot offers the opportunity for children to write a letter to Santa and enjoy refreshments.

The cost to ride is $10 for ages 18 and up, free for ages 17 and under and train museum members. Tickets can be purchased at the depot, 2180 South Carson Street, Carson City or by going here.

After the train ride, families are encouraged to tour the historic locomotives and cars in the Jacobsen Interpretive Center and Annex and visit the Carson City Model Railroad Association Exhibit in the Jacobsen Interpretive Center.
