Recently, a video was circling on social media showing a man abusing a dog in a parking lot on William Street in Carson City.

Carson Now will not be posting the video.

The public along with enforcement agencies moved quickly and identified the suspect and the dog, and the Nevada Humane Society confirmed they have custody of him now with the following message:

We know many in our community have been deeply concerned about the recent video showing a dog being harmed in Carson City.

We want to reassure everyone that the dog is now safe and in our care at Nevada Humane Society. He is receiving medical attention and is being closely monitored by our veterinary team.

This is an active investigation being handled by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, and because of that, we are unable to share additional details at this time.

To help our team stay focused on his recovery and the ongoing investigation, we kindly ask that the public refrain from calling the shelter for updates on the dog or the case.

If someone does have information that may assist the investigation, please contact our Humane Enforcement Office at 775-856-2000 ext. 420
