By Denise Clodjeaux — Carson City native and history buff Jed Block will be the guest speaker at the next Rotary Club of Carson City. Block has spent more than two decades researching and documenting the city’s past.

Block currently serves on the Carson City Historic Resources Commission and is a past Chairman. The public is invited to attend the meeting which takes place Tuesday, Dec. 10, at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 West King Street, Carson City.

Block is well known for his expertise in the Capital City’s history and thinks it’s important to share it with others.  “Perhaps if we educate people of the history that has been lost in Carson City, it may create a better sense of Historic Preservation, to help preserve what is still left.”

He developed his love of local history more than 20 years ago when researching a possible redevelopment project. Since then, he has amassed a large collection of historic photos. “I look forward to sharing images of many buildings that are no longer in existence. I think people will find the presentation very interesting.”
