In its sixth year, the Empty Bowls fundraiser Friday Night drew huge crowds to the Carson Mall for a night of delicious soup, live music, a silent auction, and all around festive fun.
This year, the Carson Mall donated its venue to the fundraiser, which allowed a larger crowd for the festivities.
“When the mall donated its venue, we decided we needed to invite everyone to participate,” said Jo Moore, one of the owners of Ogres-Holm Pottery in the mall. “We wanted all the kids from the school bands to come and perform in case they weren’t able to perform at some of the other events around town.”
And they sure came. In attendance was the Sierra Lutheran Choir, the Carson Orchestra, the Carson Middle Achool and Eagle Valley Middle School Advanced Orchestra, the Carson Middle School Band, and the Carson High School Concert Orchestra.
According to Moore, potters from around the community and beyond donate their bowls throughout the year to be used in the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser.
Twenty-four local restaurants in total donated soups for the evening.
All money collected by the fundraiser will be donated to FISH to work towards ending food insecurity.
The Project Empty Bowls fundraiser runs until 8 p.m. tonight.
