By Madeline Hull-Taylor, CHS Counselor — I am writing to shine a well-deserved spotlight on Sonne Zambrana, whose exceptional academics and dedication have made a significant impact in his high school career at Carson High School. It is truly a privilege to highlight his achievements, and I believe his story serves as an inspiring example of excellence and commitment.
Over the course of Sonne’s high school career, he has consistently demonstrated outstanding dedication to his academics and attendance. Notable accomplishments include being invited to the UNR Bound Field Trip based on test scores and grades and being a three-year CTE Graphic Design Student. Sonne is an AP and Honor student who has maintained an impressive grade point average in both his core and elective classes. His drive to work hard and be a friend to all has been noticed by his teachers and other staff on campus.
“Sonne is a student who brings a fresh perspective and an incredible amount of creativity to his work,” Sonne’s Graphic Design teacher Ms. Patricia Ababio said.
“Known for his strong sense of aesthetics and attention to detail, he approaches every project with a unique vision, always pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Beyond his artistic talents, Sonne is genuinely kind, collaborative and empathetic. He has a natural ability to connect with others, offering support and encouragement to classmates and teammates alike. In every way, Sonne exemplifies the ideal blend of creativity and character, making him an inspiring presence both in and outside the classroom.”
“Sonne was one of the most enjoyable students I had last year,” Mr. Brian Branch, Sonne’s Algebra teacher last year said. “Sonne has a strong work ethic and positive attitude. He is always friendly, respectful and courteous. With his strong character, I think he will be very successful in his senior year and beyond.”
In addition to his academic successes, Sonne is known for his positive outlook on life and an abundantly kind heart. Whether it’s mentoring others, spending time with friends or family or going above and beyond in the classroom, he continually strives to inspire and support those around them. His impact is far-reaching and reflects a true dedication to hard work and being a positive role model for others. Sonne is a first-generation college student who has big plans for himself.
His initial goal was to go to WNC, get his associate’s degree, and eventually transfer to UNR. This plan shifted when Sonne learned he was granted early admission to UNR based on his academic achievements. Sonne has applied to UNR with hopes of getting a scholarship that will cover his financial needs so he is able to jumpstart his collegiate career at a four-year university. Sonne plans to major in Art and go into the animation industry.
I am confident that Sonne will continue to achieve great things and inspire others to do the same. His positivity, work ethic and kindness are truly deserving of recognition, and I am proud to share his story with you.
