Carson City Sheriff’s Office

On Thursday, Nov. 10 the Carson City Sheriff’s Office conducted an alcohol compliance check, using minors as decoys. The minors were sent into local businesses and they attempted to purchase alcohol with only possession of Carson High School identification cards.

Twelve businesses were checked and 10 businesses passed the compliance check, refusing to sell alcohol to the minors. The following is a list of the businesses passing the compliance check:

Fairview Food Mart at 1501 Fairview Dr. #4
JM Food Market at 1501 E. 5th St.
Jacksons at 1615 E. 5th St.
Dottys at 2260 E. William St.
Thick Slice Pizza at 2010 E. William St.
Feisty Goat at 1881 E. Long St.
Quick Stop at 3006 N. Roop St.
Country Store at 3387 Hwy 50 E.
Golden Gate Petroleum at 2651 Hwy 50 E.
Maverick at 1451 E. College Prky.

Two businesses failed the compliance check, serving alcohol to the Decoys and citations were issued at the following locations:

RK Food Mart at 1500 Hot springs Rd.
Bullys Sports Bar at 3530 N. Carson St.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office goal is to have 100% compliance and have no one sell alcohol to minors. Compliance checks are designed to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors, keeping them safe.
