A 52-year-old man was arrested just before 6 p.m. Wednesday evening after Carson City deputies were dispatched to a grocery store on E. William Street on report of a man jumping on someone’s car.
Deputies made contact with the car’s owner, who said they were driving from the parking lot of the grocery store when the man jumped on her car and threatened to throw a rock at her.
Upon arrival, deputies located the man walking in the roadway and “yelling at vehicles” according to the report.
Deputies asked the man why he was jumping on the hood of someone else’s car. At first, he said he hadn’t jumped on anyone’s car. They told him they’d been dispatched because he was jumping on a car, to which he replied, “the white one?” according to the report.
Deputies said yes, the white one, and the man said he only did a “Dukes of Hazard” slide across the hood. Deputies again asked why, and he said he was “trying to get a pack of smokes.” He then said “Disrespectful I guess, sorry,” according to the report.
Deputies asked if he would like for someone to jump on his car, to which he said no. He said someone had told him “screw you man,” which “pissed him off.” Deputies asked him if he thought the person who said it to him had been the female driver of the white car, and he said yes.
While speaking with the man, dispatch advised they’d received numerous calls reporting the man had been seen hitting cars in the grocery store’s parking lot, with one witness saying the man had punched his car, be that he didn’t want to pursue charges.
The reporting deputy wrote that “due to multiple callers about [the man] hitting cars and attempting to fight vehicles in the roadway,” as well as being intoxicated, the man was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and intoxicated pedestrian in the roadway.
The man agreed to taking a breathalyzer test, which resulted in a partial PBT sample of .151 BrAC. He later provided two more samples, which were .119 and .121.
He was booked without issue.
