The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from individuals who may be interested in serving on the Carson City Cultural Commission and the Carson River Advisory Committee.

For the Cultural Commission there are two positions open for “citizen at large” that are three-year terms that expire January 2014.

The purpose of the Carson City Cultural Commission is to serve as the official advisor to the Carson City Board of Supervisors on matters related to the cultural life of the community. Carson City Cultural Commission is to create an environment that encourages excellence by area artists and cultural organizations, strengthen the awareness and involvement of all citizens in the community‘s cultural life, both in heritage and artistic expression, and establish the priorities necessary to achieve these goals in concert with representatives from the public and private sectors.

The Commission meetings are held at least quarterly, lasting approximately 2-3 hours. Additional time may be spent on special projects and sub-committee work. Applicants should be prepared for a minimum commitment of up to ten hours a month. The positions shall serve without compensation

Carson City River Advisory Committee

The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from people interested in serving on the Carson River Advisory Committee. The Committee provides advice on matters concerning the development, maintenance, management and operation of the Carson River. Meetings are the first Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. There is one opening for a three year term, expiring January 2014 in the following area:

“Environmental/Planning Issue”

Applicants should be willing to serve approximately 10 hours per month. All members serve without compensation. The Board of Supervisors will appoint qualified persons to the Advisory Committee who are residents and registered voters in Carson City.
