Early voting began Saturday morning in Carson City at the Carson City Community Center.

While the parking lot at first seems full due to a swim meet at the pool, there is dozens of spaces designated strictly for voters only a few steps from the gym entrance where voting is taking place.

As of 12 p.m., the voting process is very fast and there are no lines. As I am one to always end up misplacing my mail in ballot, I opt for in person voting most elections. I arrived at 12:15 and by 12:25 I was finished and walking back out.

There are multiple volunteers on scene to assist voters with any help they might need, including same-day registration for individuals who have not yet registered or are inactive.

There are numerous races up for grabs in Carson City including two board of supervisors positions, Clerk-Recorder, school board and more.

As of 1 p.m., around 270 residents have already cast their ballot in in-person early voting.

Today, voting is open until 2 p.m.
