A 42-year-old man was arrested Friday, Oct. 17 for suspected misdemeanor battery while attending a haunted house at Nevada State Prison, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Deputies were dispatched at 9:08 p.m. for a report of a battery in progress, where a man allegedly battered an actress while attending the haunted house held at the historic Nevada State Prison.

Upon arrival, haunted house staff members pointed toward a man on the street as the person involved. The deputy made contact with the man and asked him what had happened. The man exhibited slurred speech and difficulty standing upright, the report states.

The deputy then spoke with a staff member who advised the man in question was the individual who had battered one of the actresses. They advised they responded after hearing the safe word that is used by staff.

The staff member stated they went to the location of the incident and found the female actress and suspect entangled, at which point they fell to the ground. The staff member separated the two and instructed the male suspect to leave. The staff member later completed a statement form.

Deputies continued to investigate, speaking with those involved. The victim stated that while she was working, the man bent down and suddenly darted toward her. She reported that she dodged the man and began yelling the safe word. The other said they heard the commotion and came to find the man chasing the actress and then intervened, positioning herself between the man and the actress, at which point the man collided with her, the report states.

The victim said that while standing, she reported feeling tightness around her neck, allegedly caused by the man’s arm, before they both fell to the ground, where the other staff member separated them, the report states.

The victim sustained a bump on her forehead and a small laceration on her left palm. She wished to press charges against the man for battery and later completed a statement form, according to the report. The other staff member also competed a statement form. Both declined medical attention.

Deputies took the suspect to the hospital for medical clearance. After being medically cleared and arrested, the man stated “I got pushed and I had a reaction,” but would not elaborate further. The deputy did not observe any marks on the man’s person, the report states. Bail; $1,137.

In other arrests:
— A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Oct. 17 for suspicion of DUI second offense and use of an inhalant to induce euphoria. According the booking report, a deputy was sent to a gas station in the 1600 block of East Fifth Street in reference to an intoxicated subject.

The reporting party stated the man was inhaling air duster cans and screaming at patrons. While en-route, the deputy was informed the suspect then got into his vehicle near the gas pumps.

The deputy arrived and saw the man who matched the description in the driver’s seat of a pickup. The deputy parked behind the vehicle and the driver began to drive away toward East Fifth Street, the report states. The vehicle motion was erratic and the driver would abruptly accelerate and brake. The vehicle then started moving toward a parked delivery truck and ended up coming to a stop 10 feet in front of the truck.

The deputy exited their patrol vehicle and could see the suspect vehicle making erratic movements in the vehicle and manipulating items. Because of the suspect’s erratic behavior, the deputy drew their service weapon and placed the suspect at gunpoint, giving him commands to show his hands and exit the vehicle, the report states.

The deputy then could see the suspect take an inhale of air duster. The suspect then tossed the keys to the vehicle out of the driver’s side window. Based on training and experience, the deputy report advised that common air dusters are recreationally abused as the chemical compounds inside create a euphoric effect on the user.

The suspect then exited the vehicle and complied with the deputy’s commands. He was detained and placed into handcuffs. The deputy began the DUI investigation, where the man said he had “f**ked up” and was partying all day. The deputy asked if he was willing to participate in field sobriety tests. The man stated he would and showed signs of impairment on some of the tests.

The report notes that the “high” from air duster inhalants is short lived and typically dissipates in under three minutes. By the time the deputy performed the field sobriety tests, approximately 10 minutes had passed since the man last inhaled from the air duster.

Because of the erratic driving and danger to the public the man exhibited, as well as seeing him operate a vehicle while simultaneously inhaling the air duster, he was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI as well as use of an inhalant to induce euphoria, the report states.

He was taken to the hospital as he had an abrasion on his face the man claimed was from falling while on air duster prior to the deputy’s arrival. The man consented to a blood draw and was taken to jail. Bail: $2,500.

— A 40-year-old man was booked Oct. 17 for a misdemeanor warrant alleging violation of bail conditions. The warrant was issued Sept. 23, 2025. Bail: $3,000 cash.

— A 35-year-old Carson City man was booked Oct. 17 for a misdemeanor outside agency warrant issued Oct. 6, 2025 out of Storey County Justice Court. No bail hold.

— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Oct. 18 for suspicion of misdemeanor trespassing and disorderly conduct.

According to the booking report deputies were dispatched to Carson Tahoe Hospital for a man refusing to leave. Dispatch advised the subject had been at the hospital three times within the last 24 hours and medicals staff stated there was nothing more they could do.

Deputies arrived and met with the man who was sitting on an ambulance gurney. The deputy explained that the hospital was done giving him services and he needed to leave.

The man eventually got up and started walking out of the hospital. He then continuously stopped walking and stated he wanted to be arrested. The deputy explained that he was trespassed from the property and needed to leave. The man again started walking but would stop every several feet, asking to be arrested and refusing to leave the property, the report states.

After giving the man several opportunities to leave and him refusing, he was placed under arrest. While walking the man to the patrol vehicle, the man kept stopping and would try to turn around to yell a racial slur at a security guard who was walking behind the deputy and the suspect. The man yelled this multiple times before being placed in the back seat of the patrol vehicle. The deputy asked security if he wanted to press charges for disorderly conduct. He said yes. A deputy collected witness statements and citizens’ arrest forms. Bail: $150.

— A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Oct. 18 in the 1400 block of East William Street for suspicion of DUI.

According to the booking report, a deputy was dispatched at 4:27 a.m. to the 1400 block of East William Street. The deputy arrived and observed a white pickup that crashed into the fence of the U-Haul location. The deputy contacted the driver of the vehicle. While speaking with the man, the deputy asked him what happened. The man stated that while he was driving he looked down for a second and when he looked up he had hit the fence along with the storage container behind the fence, the report states.

While talking to the man, the deputy could smell an odor of alcohol coming from his person. the deputy asked him if he had been drinking. The man stated that he did not want to tell them. He did tell another deputy who responded to the incident that he had been drinking but would not say the amount. Due to the statements made to both deputies and the odor of alcohol coming from the man, he was asked if he would be willing to do standardized field sobriety tests. The man agreed.

During the field interview the man denied any medical conditions or problems. When asked what time he thought it was, he said 11:30 or midnight. The time of the interview was 4:40 a.m. The deputy asked him if he had any alcoholic beverages, to which he stated he did not want to answer any questions about alcohol.

The man showed signs of impairment on the tests. In the one leg stand, the man stated he understood the test and began. He put his foot down after a few seconds and said he did not want to take the test anymore and refused to complete it. He asked if he could blow into a breathalyzer at that time. The officer asked him if he would provided a preliminary breath test. He stated he would. He provided a PBT of .194 and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

The deputy read the man the request for voluntary evidence. The man stated he wanted to undergo an evidentiary breath test. Bail; $1,137.

— A Dayton man was arrested Oct. 18, 12:31 a.m. for suspicion of DUI. According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of Airport Road for a welfare check. A man was reported to be unconscious in his vehicle with the engine running.

Deputies arrived and found the man asleep in the front driver’s seat of his vehicle. Deputies had to shine their flashlights and loudly call out to wake the man. Once awake, he struggled to remove the keys from the ignition and accidentally opened the hood instead, the report states.

After finally removing the key, the man exited the vehicle, where deputies observed open containers next to him inside the car. As the man exited the vehicle, deputies detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. The man admitted to drinking around two hours prior and claimed it was only one beer, the report states.

The deputy asked if he would consent to performing standardized field sobriety tests. The man agreed. The man showed signs of impairment on the tests and was arrested. He was taken to the hospital for medical clearance, where an evidentiary blood test was taken. Bail: $1,137.

— A 33-year-old Reno woman was arrested Oct. 18, 3:23 p.m. in the area of Brown and Gordon Street for a misdemeanor warrant issued Dec. 19, 2024 out of Carson City Justice Court and for misdemeanor driving with a revoked license for DUI. Bail: $1,000 cash.

— A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, Oct. 19 for suspicion of gross misdemeanor battery on a protected person. According to the booking report, a deputy was dispatched to Carson Tahoe Hospital for a reported battery. Dispatch advised a patient had slapped a nurse in the face and was refusing to follow staff members instructions.

The deputy arrived and met with the victim who stated he was the man’s nurse. While assisting the man back into bed, the nurse said the man slapped him across the right side of his face. The nurse said the man had been belligerent and uncooperative during the entirety of his stay in the emergency room and had threatened to punch him several differ times, the report states.

The deputy photographed the victim’s face where there was no noticeable redness, swelling or bruising. The nurse filled out a statement and said he wished to press charges.

While speaking with the suspect, the deputy noted the man was highly uncooperative and was yelling and screaming profanities and racial slurs. The man was then placed under arrest for battery on a protected person and was placed into handcuffs and taken to jail where he was booked without incident. Bail: $2,500.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, Oct. 19, 3:53 a.m. for suspicion of DUI and failure to obey a traffic control device.

According to the booking report, a deputy was dispatched at 2:54 a.m. to an unknown accident located at the intersection of I-580 and Highway 50 East. When the deputy arrived they saw several vehicles in the middle of the road.

A deputy spoke with several people who stated a vehicle ran the red light at the intersection and was traveling west on Highway 50 underneath the overpass of I-580. The driver of the vehicle was identified. The deputy requested NHP to assist due to the crash occurring on Highway 50.

A witness identified the driver and stated they saw the vehicle run the red light and caused a collision with the two other vehicles. The other two vehicles were on the off ramp heading east on Highway 50 East. All of the people involved denied medical assistance, the report states.

After providing the people involved with statement forms, a deputy was able to speak with the suspect driver as another deputy arrived to assist with the incident.

The deputy noted the suspect’s eyes were red and watery. At first the deputy could not smell any odor of alcohol coming from his person because he would turn his head to speak with the officer. The deputy continued a conversation with him about where he was going. When the suspect finally faced to speak with the deputy in a closer proximity, the deputy could smell an odor of alcohol coming from his person, according to the report.

The man told the deputy he was coming from a party and had one beer at the party. He stated he would consent to conduct standardized field sobriety tests. The man showed signs of impairment on the tests, according to the report.

The deputy asked if he would consent to a preliminary breath test. The man agreed and provided a partial breath sample with a .140, the report states. Based on the deputy’s observed, they believed the man to be under the influence of alcohol. He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and for failure to obey a traffic control device.

The deputy read the Nevada implied consent to the man. The man said he understood and voluntarily consented to a breath test. At jail the man provided samples of .148 and .134. He was booked without incident. Bail: $1,137.

— A 44-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, Oct. 19 at 7:23 p.m. for suspicion of gross misdemeanor child endangerment, DUI, improper license display and no valid driver’s license.

According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched at 6:40 p.m. to the 3300 block of Highway 50 East for a report of a hit and run with suspicion of DUI.

Multiple witnesses saw the crash. One stated they observed the vehicle drive into a parking space at the shopping center. To the right of the parking stall was a parked Jeep. A witness said the suspect vehicle drove into the driver’s side of the parked Jeep and stopped, the report states.

A witness said they walked up to the suspect vehicle and banged on the window and observed the driver of the vehicle to be a female. The suspect vehicle then drove away. The witness got into his vehicle and parked it behind the suspect vehicle when it came to a stop at the west end of the parking lot. The witness vehicle blocked the suspect vehicle with his vehicle and then asked his wife to call the police as he approached the suspect driver, the report states.

When the witness driver contacted the suspect driver, he observed indications of impairment and told her she was detained. Another witness said he was the owner of the Jeep and stated that people witnessed the suspect vehicle hit his vehicle. He stated he had scratches on the driver’s side of the left door of his vehicle, according to the report.

Deputies made contact with the suspect driver in the parking stall. As the deputy walked up to the driver’s side of the suspect vehicle, they noticed a child in the rear seat crying. The deputy approached the suspect driver and made contact with them and she was identified.

The deputy observed the suspect driver to have slurred speech, red watery eyes and an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. The deputy asked her to step out of the vehicle and instructed her to go to the back of the patrol vehicle for standardized field sobriety tests. The deputy asked if she was willing to take standardized field sobriety tests. She agreed and showed signs of impairment on the tests. She consented to a preliminary breath test with a result of .158 and was arrested. The vehicle and child were handed over to the father, the report states.

She was read the request for voluntary evidence and she requested a blood sample, which was taken by a phlebotomist at the jail. Bail: $2,500.
