A 34-year-old Dayton man was convicted and sentenced for a child molestation case, Lyon County District Attorney Stephen B. Rye said Wednesday.

Robert Burton Farr pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child under 16, a category A felony. On August 8 the Third Judicial District Court sentenced Mr. Farr to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years. The District Court also imposed a condition of lifetime supervision.

This case involved allegations of molestation of a young female child that occurred between September 1, 2014 and February 28, 2015. On August 30, 2015, the Division of Child and Family Services reported this case to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

The Lyon County Sheriff investigated the case and arrested Mr. Farr on September 16, 2015. The Sheriff’s Office moved quickly with the investigation and made the arrest to avoid any further molestation and protect other possible victims. Farr eventually pleaded guilty to the charge on June 20, 2016, avoiding a trial.

“The Sheriff’s Office Detective Division and Dayton Patrol Division acted quickly in this case,” said District Attorney Rye. “The arrest of the defendant prevented further molestation of this victim and potentially others. A guilty plea in this case means the victim will not have to be traumatized again by testifying about these terrible acts committed by the Defendant. The system worked in protecting the victim and justice was served.”
