On Thursday afternoon, a 21-year-old Carson City woman was arrested on felony grand larceny after allegedly stealing from a big box store they work for across several months.

According to the arrest report, Amee Marie Hightower was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a big box store at 3200 Market Street on a report of grand larceny.

Deputies spoke with staff who reported an employee, later identified as Hightower, was stealing merchandise from the store and had been doing so for several months, possibly beginning in July 2025.

Staff told deputies that she was using a “scan and go” feature while shopping in the store. When she would get to the counter to pay, she would void all items except a few and pay for those. She was able to do so because she was a cashier.

Deputies learned Hightower had used this tactic during 23 transactions in 30 days, totaling $1,495.

Hightower spoke with deputies and admitted that she had stolen things over the course of a couple of months. She did not say how she stole them, other than the fact that she did.

She was taken into custody and booked on felony grand larceny with a bail of $25,000.

Carson City man tased, arrested after being found in stranger’s car with drugs, stolen credit cards

A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1900 block of N. Carson Street on multiple felony, gross misdemeanor, and misdemeanor charges.

According to the arrest report, Jacob Fearn was arrested after deputies were patrolling in the area when they saw a man sitting in the back right seat of a vehicle in a parking lot.

Deputies had received a suspect description about a crime, but nothing more about that crime was provided in the report. However, the reporting deputy noted that the description provided matched the description of the man inside the vehicle.

The owner of the vehicle later confirmed they did not know who Fearn was.

Deputies told Fearn to exit the vehicle, but Fearn ignored the commands and was “talking back” to deputies according to the report.

Fearn was “scrunching” a water bottle with his hands and looking at deputies through the window.

A sergeant on the scene used a ballistic shield to open the left back door of the vehicle and used a K9 to approach. Another deputy opened the right-hand side door, and Fearn finally exited, then asked deputies why they were there.

He then reached for his waistband, at which point deputies shot him with a taser, but Fearn “kept moving forward.”

Another taser was deployed, and Fearn fell to the ground.

Deputies got on top of him and took control of his limbs until he could be placed in handcuffs.

Inside the vehicle, deputies found multiple wallets that did not belong to Fearn (nor the owner of the vehicle), along with a water bottle filled with water and two balls of white crystallized powder, a broken pipe with black, burnt residue, a black sock with holes, a light bulb, and a pink bag containing a white powdery substance. A credit card belonging to another individual was also found in Fearn’s back pocket.

Carson City firefighters responded and assessed Fearn while deputies removed three taser barbs from his body.

He was transferred to the hospital for clearance, then booked into the Carson City Jail without further incident.

Fearn was booked on:

  • Trespassing (M)
  • Possession of a controlled substance (F)
  • Possession of a credit card without owner’s consent (F)
  • Burglary of a motor vehicle (F)
  • Obstruction/resisting (M)
  • Destruction of evidence (G)
  • Possession of paraphernalia (M)

Domestic Battery

— A 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for domestic battery after deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of N. Saliman Road for a “keep the peace” call.

Dispatch advised the caller that his girlfriend was on his way to his residence to pick up her belongings and was bringing “an unknown number of people.”

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the woman and several other subjects. She said she was there to pick up her belongings from her boyfriend’s house, and that she’d left the residence earlier after a verbal argument.

She said they’d had an argument in the upstairs bedroom, but the boyfriend had stood in the doorway and prevented her from leaving. She said she was able to move around him and went downstairs, but the boyfriend followed her and took her phone from her.

She said after he took her phone, she turned around and hit him on the arm, as well as on the back.

Deputies spoke with the boyfriend, who confirmed they’d had an argument and that he’d been standing in the doorway. Deputies told him she’d admitted to hitting him, and he confirmed it had happened.

Deputies placed the woman under arrest, and someone was called to take custody of her minor child.

She was taken into custody for domestic battery first without incident.
