On Friday evening, October 3, 2025, Carson City Sheriff’s Special Enforcement unit arrested four juveniles in possession of semi-automatic pistols during a traffic stop at North Carson Street adjacent to I-580.

The enforcement unit had been investigating a string of property damage incidents that had taken place in multiple areas of Carson City over the last six weeks.

Among the reports were vandalism incidents that had occurred over the weekend of September 27 where significant damage to buildings and property were recorded at NV Energy on Long Street, and at John Mankins Park located on Oak Ridge Drive.

Initial estimates of damage resulting from the two vandalism incidents on Saturday the 27th exceeded $50,000.

During the traffic stop on October 3, Deputies identified 4 juveniles in a car.

The vehicle was similar to a vehicle spotted near one site vandalized the previous weekend.

After observing suspicious items in the car, the juveniles were removed from the vehicle, and three semi-automatic pistols were discovered.

The weapons were described as two 9mm and one .45 caliber pistols, none of which contained serial numbers for identification.

All four juveniles were taken into custody and are being held at the Carson City Juvenile Detention Center on weapons related charges.

As a precautionary reaction related to this event, in coordination with School District Officials, the Sheriff’s Office and Juvenile Probation Officers increased the assignment presence around high school events for the remainder of the weekend.

However, no on-going threat to the community is known at this time.

This incident, along with the documented recent known vandalisms in the area, remain under investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this incident or other property damage reports is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office, Detective Henneberger, at 775-283-7855.
