Good day, star seekers. The week begins in the wake of Sunday’s sober Sun-Saturn opposition, so a few plans may already be showing where the fence line actually sits. Tuesday, Mercury meets retrograde Venus in Scorpio, bringing old conversations around affection, money, trust and desire back for another pass. Then Saturday delivers the week’s real turning point with a New Moon in Libra.
Ordinarily, that would sound like a clean invitation to restore balance and begin again, but Libra’s ruler, Venus, is retrograde and in difficult condition in Scorpio — and later that same day she squares Mars in Leo. In other words, this is not blank paper. It is a revision. Like repairing an old gate before the first hard freeze, the question is not whether the arrangement once worked, but whether it still closes properly now.
Aries
Saturday’s New Moon opens a new cycle around partnerships, contracts and the people sitting directly across the table from you. But its ruler, Venus, is retrograde in the part of your chart concerned with shared money, trust, debt and private agreements, so the relationship question may really be about terms that were never fully settled. Tuesday’s Mercury-Venus conjunction is well suited to reopening that conversation, particularly if both people are willing to discuss what has been assumed rather than merely what has been said. By Saturday, Venus squares Mars in your romance and creativity sector, and a child-related expense, personal passion or desire for pleasure could complicate the agreement. A fresh start is possible, but it needs more than goodwill. Put the practical obligations beside the emotional ones and see whether they still add up.
Taurus
Work, health and daily routines receive Saturday’s New Moon, making this a natural point to rebuild a system that has become awkward, inefficient or simply exhausting. The complication is that Venus, your ruling planet, is retrograde in your partnership sector, so another person may be part of the reason the routine needs changing. Tuesday can bring an important conversation with a spouse, client, colleague or collaborator about something that was never quite resolved the first time around. Saturday’s Venus-Mars square ties that relationship tension to home or family, making it especially important not to promise three different people the same hour of your day. You do not need a grand reinvention. A better division of labor may accomplish far more than another burst of determination.
Gemini
The New Moon falls in the part of your chart associated with romance, creativity, children, pleasure and the things you do because they make life feel larger. Something here deserves a beginning, but Venus is retrograde in your work-and-health sector, which means the real obstacle may be the schedule rather than the desire. Tuesday’s meeting between Mercury, your ruler, and Venus could bring an old workplace issue, health habit or unfinished responsibility back into focus. Saturday’s square from Venus to Mars in your communication sector can make errands, paperwork or someone else’s demands feel like they are eating the whole week. Do not abandon the thing that gives you joy because the calendar is badly designed. Redesign the calendar.
Cancer
Home, family and your private foundation receive Saturday’s Libra New Moon. A move, repair, household agreement or change in family rhythm may be ready to begin, though it comes with older emotional material attached. Venus is retrograde in your sector of romance, creativity and children, and Tuesday’s Mercury-Venus conjunction may bring back a conversation, project or feeling you thought had already found its answer. Saturday’s Venus-Mars square reaches into your money sector, making the cost of a family or creative decision harder to ignore. That does not necessarily mean the answer is no. It means the decision deserves a real number instead of a hopeful shrug. Give the household something sturdier than everybody agreeing to “figure it out later.”
Leo
Saturday’s New Moon opens a new cycle around communication, writing, paperwork, siblings, neighbors and the everyday routes that connect one part of your life to another. Yet its ruler, Venus, is retrograde in your home and family sector, suggesting that a conversation close to home may need another round before you can move forward cleanly. Tuesday is useful for hearing what someone actually meant the first time — or admitting what you meant yourself. Mars is moving through your sign and squares Venus Saturday, so there is a risk of pushing a family matter simply because you are tired of waiting for consensus. Being decisive is not the same as being the only person allowed to decide. Put the message in plain language and leave enough room for an answer.
Virgo
Money, possessions and the value of your labor come under Saturday’s New Moon. This is good ground for reconsidering prices, budgets and what you are willing to spend your time maintaining, but the ruler of that New Moon is retrograde in your communication sector. An old contract, conversation, sibling matter, paperwork issue or local obligation may therefore have financial consequences that deserve another look. Tuesday’s Mercury-Venus conjunction can help uncover the missing detail. Saturday is more delicate, with Venus squaring Mars in the private part of your chart. A hidden expense, unspoken worry or irritation you have been carrying alone could influence a financial decision more than the numbers themselves. Check the motive as carefully as the total.
Libra
Saturday’s New Moon occurs in your sign, offering a personal reset around direction, identity, health and how you want to present yourself going forward. But Venus, your ruling planet, is retrograde in your financial sector, so this new chapter cannot be separated from questions of money, possessions and self-worth. Tuesday may bring an old financial conversation or value judgment back around, possibly with enough new information to see it differently. Then Venus squares Mars in your friendship and community sector Saturday, which could expose the cost of a group commitment or future plan. Do not let somebody else’s enthusiasm decide what your resources are available for. Begin again if you need to — but on terms you can actually afford.
Scorpio
Mercury and retrograde Venus meet in your sign Tuesday, putting your own priorities, relationships and presentation under closer examination. Something you previously thought was settled may feel different now, especially around what you want and what you are willing to exchange for it. Saturday’s New Moon takes place in the quietest part of your chart, favoring closure, private work and the ending of patterns that do not need another public performance. Later that day Venus squares Mars in your career sector, creating tension between personal needs and professional demands. Resist the urge to prove commitment by sacrificing whatever boundary is most inconvenient to your employer or audience. This is a quieter beginning than most, but quiet does not mean insignificant.
Sagittarius
Friends, organizations and long-range hopes receive Saturday’s New Moon, making this a useful time to reconsider the people and plans surrounding your future. Yet Venus, ruler of the lunation, is retrograde in your private sector, so something unfinished behind the scenes may still be influencing what you are willing to commit to publicly. Tuesday’s Mercury-Venus conjunction can bring an old relationship, expense, disappointment or private understanding back into view. Saturday’s square to Mars in your travel and education sector may create tension between a group expectation and a larger personal ambition. You do not need to abandon the wider road just because the current company prefers a different destination. Decide where you are actually going before agreeing on who comes along.
Capricorn
Career, reputation and public responsibility receive Saturday’s Libra New Moon. A new professional direction, project or leadership role may begin taking shape, but Venus is retrograde among friends, organizations and allies, making the people around the opportunity as important as the opportunity itself. Tuesday is favorable for reconnecting with a former colleague, revisiting a group plan or learning that an old contact still has something useful to offer. Saturday’s Venus-Mars square reaches into shared money and obligations, however, and may expose questions about funding, debt or who is expected to carry the risk. Do not accept vague assurances where a number belongs. A professional opening can be worthwhile and still require better terms.
Aquarius
Saturday’s New Moon opens territory around travel, education, publishing, law and the larger ideas that help you decide where life is going next. The catch is that Venus, ruler of this New Moon, is retrograde at the top of your chart, where career and reputation are being reconsidered. A new course, trip, legal decision or publishing plan may therefore be closely tied to an older professional question. Tuesday’s Mercury-Venus conjunction can bring information from a former employer, project or public role that changes the calculation. By Saturday, Venus squares Mars in your partnership sector, and someone close may have legitimate concerns about the direction or timing. Hear them without surrendering the steering wheel. A wider horizon is useful only if the people involved understand the route.
Pisces
Shared money, debts, taxes, insurance, inheritance, trust and private agreements receive Saturday’s New Moon. This can be useful for restructuring an obligation, but because Venus is retrograde in your travel, education, publishing and legal sector, the financial question may be attached to a bigger plan that needs revision first. Tuesday’s Mercury-Venus conjunction could reopen paperwork, an educational expense, travel arrangement or legal conversation that affects what is available to everyone involved. Saturday’s Venus-Mars square brings work and health responsibilities into the equation and may expose how much the larger plan actually asks from your daily life. Do not judge the idea only by whether it inspires you. Ask what Tuesday morning looks like once the idea becomes real.
Guide for Stargazers
Early risers get two easy pairings to start the week. Before dawn Monday, look east for the waning crescent Moon near reddish Mars; from northern Nevada they appear close together rather than producing the occultation visible much farther north. Tuesday morning the Moon moves on to brilliant Jupiter. The Jupiter occultation visible from parts of eastern and central North America is not a full occultation from Carson City, but the close pairing should still be striking in the predawn sky. By Thursday, the Moon has thinned to only a few percent illumination and is disappearing into the sunrise.
Thursday evening into early Friday brings the Draconid meteor shower near its peak, and this year the timing could hardly be better for moonlight. The New Moon arrives Saturday morning, so the sky will be essentially moonless during the Draconids. This is normally a modest and unpredictable shower — often only a few meteors are seen in an hour — so do not head into the desert expecting the Perseids. The advantage is timing: unlike many meteor showers, the Draconids are best watched in the evening. Find a dark northern Nevada sky after dusk Thursday, face generally north toward Draco and give the shower some patience.
Saturn remains the surest planetary target of the week after reaching opposition Sunday, October 4. It rises around sunset and stays visible through the night, making this an excellent week to point even a small telescope toward its rings. Mars and Jupiter dominate the predawn eastern sky, and on Sunday morning Mars moves through the Beehive Cluster, M44, creating a good binocular view of the reddish planet among a swarm of faint stars. Saturday’s New Moon also produces the darkest weekend skies of the month, making Friday and Saturday nights a good time to leave Carson City’s brighter valley glow behind and look for Andromeda, the autumn Milky Way and the increasingly prominent constellations of the cooler season.
