Oscar had a pretty tough start to life. A handsome little guy with a big personality, he is hoping that his luck will finally change. All he needs now is someone willing to give him the chance to prove what a wonderful cat he can be.
Oscar is a little over two years old, a neutered male with a striking white-and-black coat. Several months ago, he showed up at a feral cat colony in Reno.

He was scared, hungry, and much too thin. It soon became apparent that life at the colony wasn’t working for him. The colony caretaker took him in, hoping to give him a safer place to land, but she wasn’t able to care for him long-term. That’s when Catmandu agreed to take Oscar and find him the home he deserves.
Unfortunately, Oscar arrived with a problem that hadn’t been noticed before he came to us: a patch of ringworm on his face. So instead of getting to settle into Catmandu and start looking for his family, Oscar spent several weeks in quarantine while he was treated.
The good news? The ringworm is completely gone! Oscar is healthy, fully vaccinated, and more than ready to put his quarantine days—and his difficult past—behind him.
Oscar is a little shy with people he doesn’t know, but once he decides that you’re trustworthy, you’ll see a very different cat. He becomes sweet, affectionate, and happy to spend time with his person. He’s a playful boy who would love a family that will give him plenty of attention, interaction, and opportunities to play.
There is one important thing Oscar would like potential adopters to know: he really doesn’t like sharing his home with other cats. Oscar isn’t exactly a fan of the feline roommate situation and has a tendency to get in scuffles with some of the other cats. He would be happiest in a home where he can be the one and only 4-legged family member.
We think Oscar would be especially happy with a home that has a catio (cat-patio) where he could safely enjoy some fresh air and outdoor stimulation without the dangers of being fully outside. That said, a catio isn’t an absolute requirement. In the right home, Oscar would likely adjust to being an indoor-only cat, especially if he has big windows to watch the world go by, plenty of toys, and a family who will make sure he gets lots of playtime and attention.
What we do know is that Oscar has already survived hunger, uncertainty, quarantine, and a pretty rough beginning. Now he’s ready for something completely different: a safe home, a person he can trust, and a family who will love him for the rest of his life.
If you think Oscar might be the right cat for you, please complete a pre-adoption application on our website at CatmanduCC.org, then come and meet him at Catmandu! We would love to introduce you to this handsome boy and let you see for yourself what happens when Oscar decides you’re someone he can trust. He is looking for a home where he can be your one-and-only feline companion and finally have the stable, loving life he deserves. Catmandu is open for adoptions Friday through Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm at 1829 Brown Street. We ask potential adopters to arrive no later than 3 pm so they have plenty of time getting to know the cats before adoptions close. Come meet Oscar and give this sweet survivor the happily-ever-after he’s been waiting for
