Sierra Lutheran High School is proud to announce a new partnership with Reno Orthopedic Center (ROC), whose generous support has made it possible to establish the school’s first-ever athletic training program.
This season, Sierra Lutheran welcomed Kelly Gustafson as its inaugural certified athletic trainer. Gustafson, who currently helps lead the CTE Health Science program at Carson High School and has previously served as the athletic trainer at Bishop Manogue, brings a wealth of experience and a passion for student health to the Falcon athletic community.
“Having an athletic trainer on staff is a huge step forward for our athletes and our school,” said Athletic Director Billy McHenry. “Kelly’s presence ensures that our student-athletes receive the highest level of care, and we’re incredibly thankful to Reno Orthopedic Center for helping us make this milestone possible.”
Launching an athletic training program carries significant start-up costs, including insurance, training tables, wraps, tape, and other essential supplies. Reno Orthopedic Center answered the call by donating funds to cover these initial expenses, ensuring Falcon athletes have the resources they need to compete safely and successfully.
“Reno Orthopedic Center is proud to support Sierra Lutheran’s efforts to enhance athlete care,” said Tina Groves, Marketing and PR Manager for ROC. “With a clinic right here in Carson City, we’re deeply committed to supporting the health and safety of young athletes in our community. Partnering with Sierra Lutheran reflects our mission to give back locally and to ensure that families in Carson City and Northern Nevada have access to quality sports medicine resources.”
This partnership marks a historic moment for Sierra Lutheran Athletics and demonstrates the shared commitment of local organizations to student wellness and athletic excellence.
