A fatal accident Tuesday morning involving a motorcycle and pickup has closed a portion of westbound Highway 50 in Dayton, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The motorcycle rider has died, according to a NHP trooper on scene. The crash happened just before 7 a.m. at US-50 near Douglas Street.
“Westbound lanes will be closed for quite a while and eastbound traffic will be affected as traffic is being re-routed,” said NHP Trooper Jim LaRose.
After Carson Now readers advised the lane was open, LaRose explained that westbound traffic is being diverted around the intersection and will be so for a few hours as part of the investigation.
Motorists should find alternative routes.
The cause of the collision is under investigation. We will update as information becomes available.
