Fire restrictions in the BLM Carson City District have been lowered from Stage 2 to Stage 1. Stage 1 and year-long restrictions remain in effect, including restrictions on:
• Campfires and other open fires, except by permit or in developed fee campgrounds/picnic areas
• Smoking outside enclosed vehicles/buildings or designated developed recreation areas
• Parking or operating vehicles and motorized equipment on dry vegetation
• Welding, metal grinding and open-flame torches, except by permit
• Fireworks, pyrotechnic/incendiary devices and explosives, including binary explosive targets
• Tracer, incendiary or steel-component ammunition
• Internal or external combustion engines without a spark arrestor
Fire safety remains important as scattered thunderstorms are possible (during the fall season) with a risk of lightning and gusty outflow winds.
Help prevent wildfires by avoiding spark-producing activities, staying alert to dry vegetation and fire weather, and carrying fire suppression tools such as a shovel, fire extinguisher, and at least five gallons of water.
