Carson played their sixth match of the season earlier today starting at 3 o’ clock at Carson. With the win as a team Carson advances to 5-1 on the season, dropping their only loss to the Grizzlies of Galena. Many of the seniors on the Carson squad stepped up to triumph over Reed for the win today, but one team in particular has been nothing but excellent the entire year.
The doubles team of Kyle Kunz and Aaron Woodbury are yet to lose a match this season. With the three wins today, they advance to 16-0. “The results really aren’t that surprising,” said team captain Kyle Kunz, “Aaron and I always work really hard at practice, so when you combine our work ethic with our raw athleticism, it creates a ‘dream team’ like scenario. We are yet to really be challenged and probably won’t see any real threats as far as competition goes until we play Reno High School on the 23rd.” The confidence radiating from the doubles team not only comes from Kunz, but Woodbury too.
“I’m very proud to say that we have come out on top throughout the season and I know without a doubt our dominance on the court will sustain us for the entirety of the season, except for a possible roadblock when we play Reno.” asserted Woodbury.
Carson plays Hug this Thursday at Hug High School at 3:00. Carson is very highly favored to win that contest due to a limited team roster on the Hawks side. Carson only needs four wins to take the match. As a team Carson has already clinched a spot in team regionals for the second consecutive year under the coaching of Hal Wilkins. The Senators hope to do well in regionals this year both individually and as a team.
