
A Carson City woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday on Highway 50 that resulted in an arrest when the suspected DUI driver was going the wrong way, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Crystal Michelle Pacheco, 38, of Carson City was flown by Care Flight to Reno where she remains in serious condition. The driver of the vehicle that hit her, Dennis Tardif of Lyon County, has been arrested, said NHP Trooper Dan Lopez. The crash happened at 11:21 p.m.
The preliminary crash investigation details indicate that a blue Pontiac Grand Am driven by Tardif, 58, was traveling westbound on Highway 50 in the eastbound travel lane when he struck a white Honda Civic driven by Pacheco that was traveling in the eastbound lane.
Tardif was traveling the wrong direction in the eastbound travel lane and struck the White Honda Civic head-on. Pacheco sustained serious injuries and was flown by CareFlight to Renown Regional Medical Center where she is still being treated for serious injuries.
Tardif was also transported to the Renown Regional Medical Center by CareFlight with non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Tardif was later released and was arrested for driving under the influence and booked in to the Carson City Jail.
